Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Meetings are held by appointment. You may request one by telephone, e-mail or the form on this page. Mentioning the subject of your matter and any hearing date helps with preparation.

What documents should I bring to the first meeting?

It helps to bring all documents you hold: the indictment, notifications, hearing records, any detention or judicial control order, forensic reports and the investigation or case file number. A meeting can still take place if documents are incomplete; missing items can be obtained later.

How are legal fees determined?

Fees are determined according to the nature, scope and expected duration of the matter, and are recorded in a written engagement agreement. The Minimum Fee Tariff published by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations sets the lower limit.

Are matters outside Istanbul accepted?

Yes. Serious criminal matters from across Turkey can be discussed. Where attendance at hearings is required, travel and accommodation costs are assessed separately. An initial meeting may also be held by telephone or online.

Is what I share during the meeting confidential?

Yes. A lawyer’s duty of confidentiality applies from the first meeting, whether or not an engagement follows. The duty arises under the Attorneyship Law and is not limited in time.

What kinds of case does the office accept?

The office acts exclusively in serious criminal cases: homicide, drug offences, sexual offences, aggravated fraud, robbery, organised crime, and embezzlement, bribery and extortion by public officials. Matters in other areas of law are not accepted. Meetings can be conducted in Turkish and English, with an interpreter where needed.
